Together with the black solo you get and license for Ross videos xpression, not the full version with motionsgraphics, but it will let you do 2 channels of 7 layers of still graphic throgh the mediastores of the switcher. The Carbonite black solo is VERY reliabel. Production switchers is at the very core of what Ross Video do, it's not for Black magic. Both companys make great stuff for different purposes and productions setups.
Hi I have used both different Atem and Carbonite switchers over the years, and a lot of other gear from both Ross and Black magic design. I really appreciate any help and insight you can offer and look forward to finalizing this decision some time in the near century. #5 - What am I missing on this idea of switching from the BMD Atem products to a Ross Video product? Am I just overthinking this and I should stick to what I know? However, reading other places (like here) I hear how reliable the Ross products are compared to the BMD products. #4 - Is it true Ross Carbonite Black Solo's as reliable as the larger versions? I see quite a few complaints about some reliability issues on a facebook forum for Carbonites. If we are embedding audio from our mixer downstream, how would we playback audio from the media store? I assume thats like a playback where we could playback pre-recorded videos. So with that said, how do I marry the audio with the video? Is it is simple as getting a $200 Audio to SDI box from BMD or any other type of box like that?

I'm aware that Ross (and professional video switchers) don't really handle audio the same way. We are used to being able to run audio into the BMD products and things just work that way. We will be producing an event that requires 2 different video feeds with graphics - Lower Third, logo bug and possibly other graphics. #1 - We are looking at an BMD Atem 2 M/E or the Carbonite Black Solo r/U. Hopefully, you all won't mind to answer a few questions. We would need 3 of these switchers I think. I'm looking for more out of our video production and we are considering the Ross Carbonite Black Solo RU. We are very accustomed to the way the BMD Atem's work, but know very little about the Ross Video Carbonite's. Hopefully, some on here won't mind to offer some insights on a new switcher for our company.
